INTERVIEW EXCERPT

Hi, I’m Phil Crosby. I’m a Major Project Strategist with the CSIRO, and the ‘SKA’ Telescope Mega-Project. ICCPM have asked me to say a few words about my background, and my job.

Q: So.. How did I get into programme management?

A: I did my initial electronics engineering training in the UK, working for ICL & British Telecom, and then ran my own engineering business in Australia. So over the years I gradually widened my experience and gained confidence in running multi-project enterprises.

My middle career was a mix of post-grad study and developing technical Standards, as well as programme roles in the aerospace sector. This led to senior project specialist positions in mega-science facilities, such as the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project where I now work on behalf of the CSIRO.
