Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc awarded SADI grant to upskill Defence Industry SMEs in partnership with ICCPM

The Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce & Industry INC (CCNT) has been awarded nearly $180K from the Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) Grants Program to upskill Defence Industry SMEs situated in the Northern Territory in core Defence-Ready skills. The project is a joint effort with the International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM).

The project will deliver specialist training in complex project management to 40 project managers, engineers and other project professionals from the local NT Defence SME Industry. In turn, this initiative led by CCNT will contribute to the improved performance of complex Defence projects in the NT and underpin growth in the NT by ensuring that these core Defence skills can be sourced locally.

Chamber NT CEO Greg Ireland has actively supported the announcement of the SADI Grant award for NT Defence Industry businesses.

The growth of Department of Defence activity in Northern Australia has resulted in increased sustainment demands on NT Defence Industry businesses. To meet Defence demands, local business has had to adjust their operations to support more and increasingly complex project delivery.

The partnership with ICCPM to deliver complex project management skilling is extremely important. Continuing the development of local companies will result in NT Businesses achieving improved capability. We extend thanks to Department of Defence and ICCPM in supporting delivery of these programs.

– Greg Ireland, Chamber NT CEO

The project will span 10 months from May 2022 to February 2023 and will be delivered in Partnership with ICCPM. It will develop organisational capability within the participating SMEs and strengthen the Defence sector in the NT. CCNT and ICCPM will work together to support the participating SMEs beyond the SADI program through their existing programs and services.

ICCPM is thrilled to continue helping Australian SMEs build their organisational capability in complex projects. The recent pandemic underscored the importance for organisations to be resilient amidst uncertainty. Through our collaboration with the CCNT, we aim to support participating SMEs by teaching the necessary skills and frameworks to respond effectively to complex issues.
