International Project Management Day 2022

A brief message from ICCPM CEO Collin Smith
3rd November 2022

What is International Project Management Day? In short, it’s one day in a year, on the first Thursday of November, when we take a moment to thank the hard working project managers who keep our economy going and our communities a wonderful place to live in. Whether it’s improved transportation, more housing options, greater infrastructure or the defence of the nation, rest assured that teams of talented project professionals were there to ensure its successful delivery.

Behind every triumph there is often a multitude of challenges that a project team has had to overcome.

However, as we know, behind every triumph there is often a multitude of challenges that a project team has had to overcome. As evidenced by the COVID lockdowns, today’s project landscape is ripe with uncertainty and complexity. There is much that we need to be aware of in addition to a project’s scope, time and budget. Part of our mission here at ICCPM is to equip project professionals across industries with the specialised skills, knowledge and ability to effectively deliver projects in complex environments.

This is why ICCPM conducts the International Roundtable Series. It is our biennial thought leadership initiative to ensure that we continually advance both the knowledge and practice of complex project leadership. Our latest report published in 2021 entitled Harnessing Emergence in Complex Projects: Rethinking Risk, Opportunity and Resilience examined emergence and how organisations can best respond to uncertainty, risk and opportunity. Given the ripple effects of the COVID lockdowns, the report is more relevant than ever, packed with insights for project professionals, whether you’ve recently started your career or are in a senior position. You can access it today as a free resource on the ICCPM website.

It’s been an absolute thrill to meet and speak with some of the country’s top project leaders and learn about their valuable experiences and challenges.

For the 2022-23 Series, we are focusing on the theme of Data Analytics for Informed Decision Making in Complex Projects. It’s been an absolute thrill to meet and speak with some of the country’s top project leaders and learn about their valuable experiences and challenges. We hope you’ll join us as we continue to travel to key Australian and international locations to support project management as a profession and further improve the chances of project success. Our schedule and registrations are available on our webpage.

Thank you again to the many hardworking project managers across the country and the world. I wish you all a Happy International Project Management Day!

About the International Roundtable Series

The International Roundtable Series brings together senior practitioners and leading academics from around the world to explore the identified theme and harness their collective wisdom to produce new insights and practical steps that organisations can take to improve complex project success. Roundtable workshops across Australia and internationally are full-day discussions facilitated by ICCPM to explore the Series theme using focus questions. A keynote speaker will kick-off each event followed by the Roundtable discussions.
