ICCPM awarded SADI grant to upskill defence SMEs

International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) has been awarded $498,280 from the Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) Grants Program for its project Skilling Australia’s Defence SMEs to Manage Complex Projects.

This project will deliver specialist training in complex project management to 227 project managers, engineers, and other project professionals from ICCPM’s Organisation Members. In turn, this project will support the improved performance of complex defence projects.

This is the first time that project management has been included in the list of skills eligible for SADI funding, reflecting a growing awareness within Defence of the need for highly skilled project professionals to achieve the objectives outlined in the Defence Industrial Capability Plan.

The project is being delivered in collaboration with Team Downer MSP. Through its Corporate Partnership with Team Downer MSP, ICCPM will support the organisational development of a number of defence sector SMEs during and beyond the SADI funding, and support the application of skills to defence projects.

The participating companies include 3 SMEs servicing defence from the Australian space sector. Building skills in complex project management within these companies will not only support the improved performance of defence projects, but it will support the growth of Australia’s emerging space economy.

International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM)

The International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) is the international peak body for complex project management. It was established in 2007 by the Australian Department of Defence with support from the UK and Canadian Departments of Defence in response to an identified need to improve the performance of complex projects, and the realisation that foundational project management methodology is insufficient in complex projects and programs.

ICCPM maintains the Complex Project Manager Competency Standards on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia (Department of Defence) and delivers training, communities of practice and thought leadership in line with these standards. ICCPM is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO #41394) offering a range of accredited and non-accredited training programs.

ICCPM is an independent, not-for-profit, member-based organisation.

Team Downer MSP

Team Downer is a Major Service Provider (MSP) for the Department of Defence’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). It is a consortium with Downer as the prime, and Providence Consulting, DXC Technology, and Systra Scott-Lister as member companies. It is one of four MSPs that provide above-the-line services for CASG including workforce planning and management, program and project delivery, supply chain management, and more. Team Downer works with Australia’s small-to-medium enterprises to contribute to the nation’s sovereign defence industry capability.
