ICCPM is delighted to announce the appointment of founding fellow Simon Henley to the position of ICCPM Regional Director for the United Kingdom and Europe. The focus of the position is to explore and support opportunities to deliver ICCPM education products and broaden network activities in the region.

ICCPM MD/CEO Deborah Hein said, “I have been keen to engage Simon in this role for a number of years now, given his knowledge of and significant history with the organisation.  As the inaugural Chair of ICCPM Simon has an intimate understanding of ICCPM’s purpose and reason for being, so he is eminently qualified to drive the take up of ICCPM education products on our behalf in his jurisdiction”.

Simon Henley said “The ICCPM course in Responding to Organisational Complexity codifies the work of the past ten years of ICCPM’s work and presents it in a set of modules which significantly demystify the causes and potential strategies for dealing with complexity in projects and programmes. I am delighted to take up the role of promoting and providing these world-leading courses to practitioners and senior executives in the U.K. and Europe”

Simon Henley graduated from the Royal Naval Engineering College Manadon with a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and had a 32-year career in the Royal Navy as an Aircraft Engineer Officer, retiring in the rank of Rear Admiral. During his career he saw frontline service with a number of helicopter and fixed wing aircraft types, and enjoyed a progression of project management responsibilities on ship and aircraft platform and equipment programmes, culminating in four years as the Project Director for the UK programme to introduce the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter into Royal Navy and Royal Air Force service.

Simon joined Rolls Royce in July 2008 as Director of New Product Introduction and Helicopters where he was responsible for the development, testing and demonstration of a wide range of new engine products and was head of the project management function.  This was followed by roles as President EPI Europrop International GmbH (EPI) for three years from 2011 with full responsibility to manage the TP400 engine programme; Director Service Strategy for Rolls Royce; and Director, Major Development Projects for Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group.

In addition to the ICCPM Regional Director role, Simon is a Senior Adviser for Newton Europe and European Business Development Manager for Magic Mobility.
