ABOUT THE WEBINAR
We are living in an increasingly complex world, in which all economic, social, technical, environmental, cultural and political factors and processes are evidently interconnected. Traditional project & program management and problem-solving approaches, through simple linear thinking and “quick fixes” that solve issues in isolation, have posed various shortcomings, including failures and even counterproductive consequences.
Since 2017, the United Nations (UN), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have all publicly declared systems thinking to be a key leadership skill that is necessary to deal with the fundamental interconnectedness of complex, local-to-global issues.
This session by Dr. Nam Nguyen, based on his book Systems Thinking for Everyone: The journey from theory to making an impact, will look at the roles of systems thinking and complexity management in successfully delivering complex projects and programs. It also highlights their implications and importance in making decisions, identifying leverage points, effective and systemic strategies for individuals, companies and organizations. Application examples in several complex projects (in different countries and industries) will also be given.
