Managing Project Complexity: A Research & Teaching Journey

October 16 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm AEDT

$24.95 FREE for ICCPM Members

In this talk, we discuss the work that has been done at Cranfield University in the UK. For many years we have been examining project complexity in terms of how it is experienced by managers, and how they respond to the challenges they perceive. This has led to a number of academic publications and practical tools, and a range of teaching material for postgraduate PM students and executive education participants.

About the presenters:

Dr. Kate Davis is a Senior Lecturer in Project Management at Cranfield University with over 20 years of experience in higher education. She has led business management programmes and developed employability initiatives. Her research explores stakeholder impact in projects, and she is committed to mentoring students and professionals alike.

Dr. Neil Turner is a Professor of Project Management at Cranfield School of Management, having joined from a previous career as an engineering manager in a major telecommunications firm. His current research activities involve organizational knowledge and learning in the context of complex projects, and how strategic operational choices can improve both delivery performance and resilience. His interests lie primarily in how managers deal with the organizational realities they face, including supply chain challenges in both the public and private sectors. He has published extensively in major academic journals, and his latest book is ‘Project Management, 5th edition’, with Dr. Harvey Maylor. He is the Course Director for the MSc by Research in Project Management at Cranfield.
