ICCPM Knowledge Sharing Forum
On Thursday 18 May, ICCPM conducted a one-day Knowledge Sharing forum event in Canberra. This was in conjunction with a visit by the QUT International Projects Unit – Australia Awards contingent from Sri Lanka.
The event's theme was 'Complexity: Facing Challenges and Delivering Successful Outcomes'.
We had presentations from senior practitioners and thought leaders on their experiences and strategies for managing complex projects, policy development and negotiations - all with the focus of the practitioner in mind.
Dr Phil Crosby started the day with a presentation on Working in, on and around complex projects including the Square Kilometre Array (SKA)
Deb Hein presented the outcomes of the Roundtable series on Contracting for Success in Complex Projects, which details insights gathered internationally on best practices for contracting as well as research developments.
Ian Biggs facilitated a stakeholder engagement workshop to provide input on the feasibility and design of a potential Certification Scheme for Complex Project Managers.
The afternoon session included presentations on International Project Delivery: A tale of success from Bruce Armstrong and Leo Cusack from Aspen Medical; Complex Projects: Delivering Policy Outcomes by Ross Smith of Strategic Pathways; and Success in Managing in Complexity: what works and what doesn’t by Steve Hein of ACSCL.
To finish the day, Dr Erin Evans facilitated a panel on Women in Leadership with a diverse group of experienced senior women from the public and private sector.
