John Al Khateeb is a Principal Consultant, University Lecturer, facilitator, and Researcher with over 20 years of experience spanning engineering, manufacturing, IT, and, most recently, defence. His expertise encompasses large-scale project management, industrial engineering, and digital transformation, with contributions to projects both locally and internationally.
As a passionate educator and industry contributor, John has spent over a decade designing and delivering training across a wide range of management and technical disciplines, both locally and internationally. He has partnered with accredited training providers and universities to serve sectors including defence, engineering, oil and gas, health, and community services. Currently, John is a seasonal lecturer at the University of Adelaide, where he teaches subjects such as systems thinking, complex project management, enterprise transformation and innovation, leadership, and stakeholder engagement. Beyond academia, he has contributed to advancing the project management profession through his work with the Project Management Institute (PMI), including reviewing and evaluating PMI’s Body of Knowledge and certification programs. He also led two organisations to achieve authorised training partner status with PMI and currently co-chairs the Data Analytics in Complex Projects Special Interest Group at ICCPM. John is also actively engaged with the community through conferences, presentations, and participation in discussion forums.
John’s academic credentials include a Master’s in Strategic Planning, a Master’s in Applied Project Management, a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. He also holds five professional credentials from PMI. Currently, he is pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Education and a PhD at the University of Adelaide. His doctoral research explores complex project governance through the lens of systems thinking, complex systems governance, and management cybernetics.
John is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the International Centre of Complex Project Management, the Australian Institute of Project Management, the Complex Systems Society, IEEE, the System Dynamics Society, the American Society for Engineering Management, and the Project Management Institute (PMI), among others.
